Photo-Etch Detail Sets

Photo-etched detail sets are precision-manufactured metal upgrade parts that bring scale models to a level of realism impossible to achieve with plastic alone. Created through a chemical etching process that produces incredibly thin, accurate shapes from brass or stainless steel sheet, PE parts replace simplified kit components with scale-correct details. At iModeller, we carry one of the largest selections of photo-etch sets available online, covering aircraft, armor, ships, figures, and accessories across every popular modeling scale.

Why modelers choose photo-etch: Injection-molded plastic has physical limitations -- it cannot produce parts thinner than approximately 0.3mm without warping. Real-world fenders, railings, mesh screens, instrument panels, and seat harnesses are far thinner at scale. Photo-etched brass, typically 0.1-0.2mm thick, reproduces these details at correct proportions. The visual difference is immediately noticeable, especially on competition models and display builds where judges and viewers look closely at detail quality.

Our PE catalog spans sets from premium manufacturers including Microdesign, KAV Models, and other specialized aftermarket producers. Sets range from simple cockpit detail upgrades with a few parts to comprehensive full-detail packages containing hundreds of individual components for complex subjects like aircraft carriers or full-interior tank kits.
